Aotea Square
In the heart of the city lies Aotea Square, a public space used for some of the city's biggest and most exciting concerts, political rallies, markets and an assortment of gatherings. Opened in 1979, the area includes an extensive amount of public art such as Maori sculptures by Selwyn Muru, a bronze statue of Sir Dove-Myer Robinson by Toby Swiss, and a bronze fountain made by Terry Stringer.
